Three more scenarios15:18 Yerevan | 11:18 GMT | Saturday 1 March 2008 Yesterday Robert Kocharyan met with the students of the YSU. Of course they spoke about the current internal situation in Armenia, according to Panorama.am Robert Kocharyan mentioned four scenarios to get away. According to the first scenario mentioned by him, the opposition will continue mass demonstrations involving more and more people, and in the end, there is a possibility that the people will be disappointed. He assessed it as a deadlock. According to the second scenario, the opposition as a result of disappointment will attack the state bodies thus breaking the law. R.Kocharyan assured that the legal bodies will undertake certain measures to keep the constitutional order. The third: the opposition thanks the people for their support, preserves the influence on them as well as the brut oppositional behavior and prepares for the next elections. According to the president that would be a praiseworthy act. In the forth scenario the opposition thanks the people, sends them to their houses, congratulates the newly elected President and goes to write his next scientific work. Robert Kocharyan’s versions of relieving the situation are limited to this four. It’s strange of course because greater imagination, as well as flight of thought could be expected from an author of various funny anecdotes and aphorisms. But… In any case it seems to us that the relieving versions of the situation are not limited to the mentioned ones. There are at least three more versions which are more probable and realizable than the ones mentioned. First version: The Constitutional Court loyal to its essence and title demonstrates legal approach and renders null the activity held on February 19, 2007 which can be called “an election” only in the worst nightmare. Because all that happened on that day was everything, except an election: violence of human rights, limitation of expression of one’s free will, a number of cases of breaking the law, beating, frightening, physical, moral pressure... anything you can imagine in the sphere of immorality. That is to say all that happened could really be called anything except an election. So the Constitutional court will not perform a deed by rendering it null and invalid, it would just do its duty. The second version: the world, either by both or by the superiority of one of the world political poles supports the establishment of real democracy in Armenia, for the purpose of staying apart from the worsening headaches, it listens to the word “now” which became a slogan in the Freedom Square of Yerevan and now it starts the peaceful process of establishing democracy in Armenia, which supposes the following simple steps: to render null the farcical election on February 19 and schedule a new election, and it should become the guarantor of it’s democratic process. This, by the way, does not mean bringing someone from outside. We are a member to the European, CIS and other international organizations and as we bear responsibilities before them, so do they before us. And we just remind them their responsibilities before us, before the civilized world and the civilization in general. The third version: the people whose dignity is offended by the theft done by their brutal force, stands as long as it gets the possibility to maintain its right and brings back the stolen. Each of the three scenarios I mentioned is more realistic and realizable, than the four mentioned before. By the way Robert Kocharyan mentioned two main scenarios for the authorities: tolerance, which, to his opinion, will be followed by the cease of the rebel and the forceful activities and he considers acceptable only the first one. Thus stating that the one responsible for the contrary is not him, but… |
