Sargsyan-Aliyev meeting in Saint Petersburg10:49 Yerevan | 6:49 GMT | Saturday 7 June Yesterday Serge Sargsyan met with Ilham Aliyev at the Baltic Star Hotel of Saint Petersburg, the press office of the president reports.
The meeting started in the presence of the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan Edward Nalbandyan and Elmar Mammedyarov, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs Yuri Merzlyakov, Matthew Bryza and Bernard Fassier, as well as the special representative of the OSCE CiO Andrzej Kasprzyk. Afterwards the heads of states continued the meeting face to face. The private talk lasted for an hour after which the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs and the OSCE CiO personal representative joined the meeting.
The Armenian side describes the result of the Sargsyan-Aliyev meeting in Saint Petersburg as constructive. During the cognitive meeting the sides presented their stance on the negotiations, and instructed the foreign ministers to continue the talks in collaboration with the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs. The presidents also held out wish that the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs will continue to work toward bringing the approaches of the sides closer. Agreement was reached that the Minsk Group co-chairs will visit the region at the end of June. The timing of the visit will be set in the nearest future. News
