The Press Release Info Is Not True

Lusine Sahakyan and Yervand Varosyan, the attorneys of Gagik Jhangiryan, responded to the June 11 press release of the Office of Prosecutor General according to which Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan visited Yerevan Center Penitentiary and met with the members of parliament Miasnik Malkhasyan, Sasun Mikayelyan, Hakob Hakobyan, we well as Gagik Jhangiryan and Ararat Zurabyan.

“In reality, Gagik Jhangiryan did not ask for a meeting, and on June 11 the officers of the penitentiary invited him to one of the offices where Gagik Jhangiryan saw Aghvan Hovsepyan and learned that he wants to meet with him.

According to the press release, in answer to the inquiries of the prosecutor general, the arrested said they had no complaints of the investigating body.

The statement is not true, on the contrary, during this meeting Gagik Jhangiryan said that the investigating body has undertaken illegal prosecution against him, his brother, friends, and all the other political prisoners.”
